Laboratory


      WissTek belongs to the Department of Communications (DECOM) of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP).

      Its members include Professors from within FEEC and from other universities, post-doctoral students, doctoral students, and M.Sc. students. It offers consultancy and courses to industries and develops joint projects with R&D centers and industries. The financial support acquired by WissTek is used to offer financial support (scholarship) to the students and to provide the laboratory with equipment

Resources

      In a pleasant area of fifty square meters in front of a gorgeous garden, WissTek offers the following resources for its students and researchers:

  • 18 high-performance computers (desktops and notebooks) with MS Windows and Linux dual boot, equiped with cameras and headset for video and audio conferencing;
  • All these equipments comprise a local network with gigabit ethernet capabilities, which is connected to UNICAMP's internal optical-fiber network and hence to the Academic Network at São Paulo, and the world Internet;
  • Laser and inkjet network printing, image scanning, wireless data projector, backup facilities and several scientific and simulation software packages;
  • A data acquisition equipment, which has been used to characterize the propagation channel. This equipment is composed of a trolley (with a fifth wheel), spectrum analyzer, notebook, transmitter, power amplifier, attenuator, antennas, power supplies, and batteries.
  • A comprehensive bibliographical support, including top books in mobile communications, wireless technology, evolutionary computing, software engineering, and advanced mathematics;
  • Subscription to top journals, magazines and letters in mobile communications and wireless technology;
